Conservative Councillor - Sex charges

A Canterbury city councillor has been remanded in custody on serious sex charges against children.

Conservative Martin Fisher, 60, is accused of indecent assault, sexual touching and making and possessing indecent images of children.

The charges relate to two victims under the age of 16 and another aged over 18.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between 1982 and 2010.

Married Fisher, who has represented Tankerton Ward since 1995, was arrested during an early morning raid at his house in Queens Road, Whitstable on Thursday, April 8.

He was questioned at Canterbury police station and remanded in custody after appearing at Dover Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.

He withheld his plea and is due to appear in court again on Friday, April 16.

The insurance writer – who is believed to have four grown-up sons – sits on the council’s audit committee and general purposes committee.

He has been suspended by the Conservatives both in Canterbury and nationally.

Bizarrely convicted child sex offender Martin Fisher has since been given the front page of the local press to propound his thoughts on the matter, ahead of sentencing.
ie we are all victims, it was only touching.
Why would local media allow this man to abuse his victims a second time, and attempt to influence sentencing?
Roll up your trouser leg for the answer.

Martin Fisher, you've already damaged these peoples lives, yet you would like to do them more damage and humiliation by naming them? "We are all Victims" NO! You are the abuser they are the victims. If you have been abused in your life, seek therapy, deal with your struggles and be responsible for yourself.
Canterbury council, would you please be more thorough in your investigations when people stand for election. I've had countless CRB checks in my working life. HAVE YOU? Martin Fisher has a child sex abuse charge dating back to 1982, yet he was representing us and making decisions on our behalf as a member of the council.
Martin Fisher slippery character, not to be trusted, Canterbury council corrupt, not to be trusted.
How much longer will we have these criminals in local government?
